Sandy & Martin Bartley are the new captains at the helm of this flagship of Great Old Inns. Having run similar businesses for a number of large breweries for quite a few years mainly in Hampshire/Berkshire and West Wales but have decided to step up in class and have taken over this gem in the countryside.

Sandy & Martin have two grown up sons, one being a teacher and the other a royal marine.

Sandy runs a very tight ship and likes everything shipshape whilst Martin slaves away in the galley producing some fine cuisine. Martin's culinary skills are well complimented by those of Danny Prue, the assistant chef...

Martin also enjoys working closely with "CAMRA" - the Campaign for Real Ales (we are in the good beer guide again for 2007) - ensuring that the beer selection is firstclass.

Both are keen walkers and enjoy the secluded cycle and walkway ramblers path which passes by the pub. Sandy is also a keen horse rider and both are very pro-active in helping to raise funds for local charities.
